Jim Hanifan’s It’s a Better Burger was started by three guys who love, among other things: great burgers, good value, and people. Coach Hanifan and his friend Dave were at lunch one day lamenting the face that the burger restaurants that were so good twenty years ago seem to have all cut their quality and shrunk their portions From that meeting, the idea to create a “better” burger restaurant was born. Dave asked his friend Todd to join them, brining his business acumen, hard work ethic, and “make it happen” abilities to the venture. less than 5 months later, ITSABB was serving its first customer.

Our primary goal from day one wil never change. We want to bring our customers a fantastic, freshly cooked burger that’s just the right size at a fair price. In order to do that, we won’t make the compromises that many of our competitors do. We will never make a burger from beef that has been frozen. We will never skimp on our quality of beef to save money. We will never partially cook a burger patty, store it under the grill or in a warming pan, and then put it back on the grill to finish it off when you order it. We won’t crank up the grill temperature beyond optimal and jeopardize tenderness and flavor. We could get your burger to you faster by doing these things-but we won’t compromise our burger’s taste for speed. To cook a true 10 or 7 ounce burger from start to finish, the right way, takes time. We hope you agree that the finished product is worth the wait. (Keep in mind, even if you are planning to enjoy your burger here, you can always call ahead, and we’ll start your order when you are on the way.) If a customer who has ordered after you receives their order before you, they most likely called ahead, ordered a Thin Patty Burger, or ordered one of our menu items that takes a shorter time to prepare than what you have ordered.

Our goal has been to expand our menu so that we can accommodate a group that may include someone who (gasp) would prefer something other than a burger. At the same time, we are going to keep our menu small enough so that we can continue to turn over our entire inventory of food supply several times a week. Our customers will always get food that is as fresh as if they prepared it at home themselves.

We have a “no tipping” policy because we want to keep your total cost of ding with us down. You won’t find a tip jar or a space on a credit card receipt for a tip at ITSABB. We have great employees, and we plan to promote from within as we expand to the rest of the St. Louis area and then to other markets. Currently we are open in St. Peters at 4881 Mexico Road (just east of the Rec Plex), and in Maryland Heights at 11982 Dorsett Road (just east of HWY 270).
